STABILITY OF FRANK FHT 155

FRANK FHT 155 is very stable at temperature up to 430°C. Between 430°C and 540°C there is a tendency for FRANK FHT 155 to slowly decompose with the formation of Nitrate, alkali oxide and nitrogen. Also one of the ingredients will be slowly oxidized in the presence of atmospheric oxygen. The later can be avoided by excluding air by protecting the surface of the salt with inert gas, such as nitrogen or argon. There is also a tendency for the formation of a certain amount of Carbonate in the salt by absorption of carbon dioxide during prolonged use. Some carbonate may then be precipitated out of the salt. This is however of little consequence provided the system used is not easily blocked by the deposition of carbonate.
